...for your jewelry

There are a few things to keep in mind to ensure that your watch will work properly for a long time. A watch consists of several hundred small individual parts and should therefore be protected from shocks, high temperatures, magnetic fields and moisture. Furthermore, the water resistance of watches can deteriorate due to impacts, grease, acids, perspiration and cosmetics.

Have you changed the time or date? Do not forget to push the crown in or screw it down properly.

High temperatures caused by UV radiation can lead to faster ageing and discoloration of your watch. Therefore, do not expose your watch to direct sunlight.

Always take your watches off when you go to sleep.

When cleaning the watch with water, always ensure that the crown is firmly closed or screwed down. This prevents water from penetrating the inside of the watch. It should also be noted which water resistance applies to the watch. Cleaning under running water is only permitted from a water density of 10 bar. If condensation collects as mist under the glass of one of your watches, please go to a specialist store immediately.

Bracelets

The leather strap is a wearing part and must be protected from moisture, sweat and chemicals. Leather watch straps should not be permanently exposed to moisture. For example, the watch should be removed when rinsing or hand washing so that the leather strap does not react with the detergent and washing-up liquid and stain. This also prevents unpleasant odors from the leather. For hygienic reasons, we advise you to replace the leather strap after 6 – 12 months. Suitable leather soap is available for cleaning the leather strap. However, the operating instructions should be strictly followed.

A damp microfiber cloth is sufficient for cleaning the metal and stainless steel bracelets. Cleaning with the cloth prevents scratches on the strap.

Battery changes and strap adjustments should always be carried out by a specialist. If the battery becomes weak, please go to a specialist store immediately, as a battery that is not fully functional can damage your watch. The battery should be replaced at intervals of 1 – 1.5 years.

Automatic watches and hand-wound watches in particular should not be stored in cool places. These watches can suffer from temperature fluctuations, which may also affect their accuracy.

Diving watches

These watches should be cleaned under running water after swimming in salt water. Furthermore, the watch should be treated with particular care during the rest of the time and its water resistance should be checked annually by a specialist retailer.

Hand-wound watches

If possible, these clocks should be wound at the same time every day.

Solar watches

These watches should be regularly exposed to daylight. This is the only way to guarantee long-lasting, flawless functionality.

General care instructions for jewelry

Handling jewelry as gently and carefully as possible helps to ensure that the surface is not damaged and remains intact. Silver jewelry in particular should not be worn permanently and continuously. It is better to remove the silver jewelry and store it in a dry place if it comes into frequent contact with strong cleaning agents, in the swimming pool or if it is permanently damp.

Regular cleaning and proper storage can also protect silver jewelry from tarnishing and discoloration. Tarnishing is a completely normal characteristic of silver jewelry; this is caused by sulphur-containing substances and is unavoidable.

Costume jewelry

Costume jewelry is a delicate product and could break if it falls onto a hard surface or otherwise comes into contact with hard surfaces.

Fashion jewelry should not be damaged if handled properly. The coating will withstand normal use if contact with moisture, cream or perfume is avoided.
